Did you know that you can get your flu jab at the pharmacy? There’s no need to book an appointment or wait for your GP, we can vaccinate you for the winter months in a matter of minutes!
Anybody can develop the flu, and it’s no fun. However, flu can be more dangerous for older people, pregnant women, and children and adults with underlying health conditions or a weak immune system. It is also highly recommended that children in primary school and health and social care workers are vaccinated against the flu each year.
The flu jab is given free on the NHS to adults age 65 and over, people with certain medical conditions, children aged 2 and 3, children in primary school and frontline health or social care workers.
The best time to have your flu jab is in the autumn, around October and November, in order to protect you from illness in the winter. The vaccine may not 100% guarantee that you will not get the flu, but it is proven to help prevent it and also make any flu that you do develop less debilitating.
It’s important to look after our bodies during winter, and getting the flu jab is one easy way to help yourself to stay well. If you have any concerns about how the colder months affect your body and health, we’re always happy to give you advice in the pharmacy!
